Reflecting on the Bigger Picture: Gaining Perspective on Our Lives

It's easy to get caught up in the daily routine of life and lose sight of the bigger picture. But taking a step back and reflecting on our lives can help us gain perspective and make the most of our time. Here are some questions to consider as a reminder of the importance of making the most of our lives:

  • Are we living with purpose and making the most of our time, or are we just going through the motions?
  • Will we be able to look back on our lives with pride and satisfaction when we're older, or will we be filled with regrets?
  • How will our families be affected if we develop a serious illness, and what kind of quality of life can we expect for ourselves?
  • Are there people in our field making significant contributions to the world, and if so, what is preventing us from doing the same? Are we holding ourselves back?
  • Are we setting a positive example for our children and expanding their horizons, or are we limiting their potential?
  • Are we dealing with our own internal issues, such as trauma, hurt, and anger, before looking outside for happiness?
  • Are we truly grateful for the opportunities and standard of life that we have, or are we still unhappy despite being in the top 1% of the population in terms of standard of living?
  • If we knew we only had 6 months to live, who would we forgive and how would we like to spend our remaining time? What would become inconsequential in our lives?

Reflecting on these questions can help us gain perspective on our lives, and make the most of the time we have.
